Trip Overview

Annapurna Base Camp trek, the best trekking route, is the dream for fresh trekkers worldwide. The way comes under the Annapurna Conservation Area(ACA), which National Trust for Nature Conservation has undertaken as the Annapurna Conservation Area Project(ACAP) since 1986.

Moreover, with an area of 762,900 Hectares, ACA has given shelter to over 100 thousand inhabitants,1226 species of flowering plants, 105 mammals, 518 birds,40 reptiles, 23 amphibians, and many other creatures.

In fact, The striking panorama of Annapurna South, Annapurna 1 and 2, Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal, Gangapurna, and Manaslu ranges is a breathtaking scene of mountain glaciers. In addition, Poonhill trekking takes you through terraced slopes, warm villages, beautiful paddy fields, wonderful culture, and the lifestyle of ethnic people. Moreover, The charming settlements of Gurungs in Ghorepani and Ghandruk lie in a trek to the Annapurna region.

Further, we hike to Poonhill and trek to Tadapani then we come to Chomrong-Dovan and reach Machhapuchhre base camp. And then, from the Machhapuchhre base camp, we move to the Annapurna base camp. Next, The trails descend to Bamboo and move on to Jhinu Danda. Lastly, trek to Nayapul and drive towards Pokhara city and, fly back to Kathmandu. This is how we have the end of our Annapurna Base Camp trek and Ghorepani Poon Hill trek.

Generally, Nepal has many destinations to offer across the year. However, travelers are suggested to visit between March to May, and September to November for the Annapurna Base Camp Treks as well as others too.

1

Arrive in Kathmandu via airport and transfer to hotel

Meet and greet at the airport in Kathmandu. Drive to Hotel,  check-in procedures. Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu

Sightseeing tour  and trek preparation

Morning breakfast and proceed for sightseeing in Kathmandu i.e, Swyambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath & Pashupatinath Meals: Breakfast only

Fly to Pokhara and trek to Tikhedunga(1570m)

The trek starts from the most beautiful city in the country ie Pokhara with an elevation of 800 m. It takes around 1:30-2 hrs to drive from Pokhara-Nayapul. Nayapool is the gateway of the ABC trek situated along the Baglung Highway. After 30 mins walk, we reach Birethanti ( Checkpoint) where we will enter the ACAP region. The official trek starts now and the trial leads through some small villages like Sudame, Hile, and Thikedunga. It takes around 4-5 hrs from Birethanti – Thikedunga Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Tikhedunga(1570m) to Ghorepani(3210m)

One of the highlights of the trek is the daunting uphill in the name of Ulleri. The Steep uphill walk takes around 4-5 hrs is known to test all trekkers with all forms of their fitness. After Ulleri, the trail leads to the beautiful walk through the woods to Ghorepani Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Ghorepani(3210m) to Tadapani(2650m)

We wake up around 3:30 am and leave the hotel for Poonhill( 3210) for the breathtaking Sunrise view. The view of the first sun’s rays on the mountains is something magical. We get to see the Dhaulagiri I, Nilgiri, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Fishtail, etc. After about an hour on the top of Poonhill, we go down to the hotel for breakfast and move to Tadapani. Tadapani is a small beautiful place in the middle of the woods and is known for its tranquil and serene environment. Not to mention, the early morning Mountain view is one of a kind. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Tadapani (2650m) to Chomrong (2170m)

The day starts with an easy downhill walk to Chiule and then a steep uphill to reach Chomrong. We go through small little typical Gurung houses along with some beautiful paddy fields. Chomrong is the biggest village of the Gurung community in the Annapurna Region. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Chomrong (2170m) to Himalaya

From Chomrong, we go through some challenging downhills and uphills before reaching our day’s destination i.e Himalaya. We pass by small little villages like Sinuwa, Bambo, and Dovan. The trail is regarded as the most beautiful and trekkers all get the best photographic view of the trails during that time of the trek. The highlight is the 108 Waterfall viewpoint from where you will get to witness the mesmerizing view of the natural Waterfall. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Himalaya to Machapuchare Base Camp/Annapurna Base Camp(4130m)

One of the most important parts of the trek is the time between the Himalayas and MBC. We are now entering into the +3000 m elevation and usually minor symptoms of AMS start to show. One must carefully listen to your body and share frankly with your guide regarding the state of your body. Hence, communication with your guide becomes even more important as you start to gain elevation after 3000 m. MBC is the base camp of Machapuchare mountain( Fishtail mountain). Macha means fish and puchare means tails, that’s how the mountain is name Machapuchare for its unique shape like one like the fish’s tail. The most awaited moment of the trek finally comes with a slight ascent towards The ABC. It takes around max 4 hrs walk from MBC to ABC. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Annapurna Base Camp(4130m) to Sinuwa(2340m)

After breakfast, we descent down to Sinuwa. It’s going to be quite challenging as we need to do a lot of downhill walking. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Sinuwa(2340m) to Jhinu Danda(1780m)

The second last day of the trek starts with an uphill walk up to Chomrong and a downhill walk to Jhinu Danda. Jhinu Danda is known for its natural hot spring. Trekkers from all wakes of life Usually experience therapeutic feelings dipping into the pool of Natural hot spring. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Jhinu Danda(1780m) to Marqui

The last day of the trek starts with a walk from Jhinu Danda – Marqui. it takes around 2 hrs. From Marqui we ride private vehicles back to Pokhara through Baglung highway. Overnight at Hotel in Pokhara Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Fly back to Kathmandu

Before You Go

PASSPORT AND VISA

All foreigners except Indians require a visa to enter Nepal. A visa for Nepal can be obtained on arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and at the border entry points in Kakadvitta, Birgunj, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Gaddachowki on the Nepal-India border, and Kodari on the Nepal-China border.

Outside of Nepal, A visa can even be obtained at the closest Nepal Embassy or delegacy.

To renew a Visa you’ll be able to head to the Department of Immigration, Kalikasthan, Kathmandu.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

A valid passport and one passport-size photo with a lightweight background.

The current cost of the visa fee is US $40 for 30 days which needs to be paid in cash on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport. Citizens of China and therefore the SAARC countries will receive a free visa.
