This day marks the transition from driving to trekking. After a short final drive to clear the rugged terrain, you will lace up your boots and begin hiking. The trail winds upward through lush forests and traditional grazing pastures, gently introducing your body to the steady climbing rhythm required for the days ahead as you reach Muddi Kharka.

Leaving Muddi Kharka, the trail climbs steadily through pristine woodlands and open alpine ridges. As you push deeper into the isolated Upper Mundum region, the modern world fades away. The environment becomes noticeably quieter and more rugged, culminating in your arrival at the scenic wilderness campsite of Waiko.

Following rugged paths used primarily by local herders, you will traverse scenic meadows and rocky outcrops. Safety is paramount when trekking at high altitudes, making this dedicated rest day essential. Use this time to relax, let your body adjust to the 4,850-meter elevation, and soak in the breathtaking mountain panoramas. If you feel energetic, you can take a light acclimatization walk around the valley to capture incredible photographs.

After a refreshing rest, you will head deeper into the glacial landscape toward the sacred, milky-white waters of Setipokhari. This is the most physically demanding and rewarding day of the trek. You will navigate a grueling, high-altitude path across technical terrain to reach the foot of the formidable Amphu Lapcha pass. The long hours of trekking are rewarded by the raw, awe-inspiring close-ups of the vertical ice walls and immense glacial peaks surrounding the base camp.

Leaving the dramatic base camp behind, you will cross the demanding alpine terrain to descend into the beautiful Imja Valley. The return of more comfortable atmospheric pressure and a cozy lodge makes this a highly celebratory evening.

From Chhukung, you officially connect with the standard, world-renowned Everest Base Camp trekking network.
