Mustang district is one of the 77 districts of Nepal which lies at the Dhaulagiri zone covering an area of 3573sq. km. belonged to the world’s highest mountains, Mt. Annapurna and Mt Dhaulagiri bordering China and Tibetan plateau. Agriculture and animal husbandry are the main occupations of the habitants. The entire district lies in the Annapurna Conservation Area which oversees development programs, Tourism Management. Mustang is an ancient forbidden kingdom. The trek is an exploration of concealed valleys of Upper Mustang in Nepal nestled between Tibet and the Himalayas. Even though the upper Mustang trek is challenging, it surprises visitors with its culture and vistas. The Lo-Manthang has solar electricity, herb garden and there was a time when it was mandatory of a certain family to supply firewood for the Royal family until the proclamation of the Republic of Nepal in 2005. Upper Mustang trekking was officially opened in 1992. The yak caravans, painted mud-brick houses, red cliffs, and snow-capped mountains are a great vista for tourists.
