Trip Overview

The Everest high passes via Thame treks provide the thrill of adventure and widen their experience toward peak climbing expedition which is beyond trekking.

In fact, The main attractions of the Everest high passes via Thame will be the Gokyo-RI, Gorak Shep, Kala Patthar, and Tengboche. During the trek, we go through the best adventure passes namely Khongma-La Pass, Cho-La pass, and Renjo la pass.

Moreover, These passes are combined with an ascent of Kala Patthar, Gokyo peak. This Route also introduces trekkers to remote and untouched Mangpa La Valley. However, climbing can be strenuous so acclimatization can give more whereabouts to the climbers. Exercising and jogging regularly for a few months prior to the trip is a good idea. We must have a positive attitude and strong determination to accomplish the trek successfully.

1

Meet and Greet upon Arrival in Kathmandu(1,400m)

When you land in Kathmandu, our team will be there to receive you and take you to your hotel. After the long journey, this day is kept easy. Once you settle in, we will sit together for a short introduction about the trek. You can ask anything, check your gear, and relax for the rest of the day. If you feel like stepping out, the nearby streets offer a good first look at local life.

Sight-seeing tour to Kathmandu city  and trek preparation(1400m)

This day is a mix of culture and preparation. You will spend some time visiting important places in the valley while also making sure everything is ready for the trek. Your guide will explain how the days will flow in the mountains, what to expect from the weather, and how to deal with altitude. It’s also your last chance to organize gear comfortably before heading to higher elevations.

Fly to Lukla trek to Phakding (2610m)

Walk: 3–4 hours
The day starts early with a short but exciting flight into the mountains. After landing at Lukla, the trek begins with a gentle walk. The trail passes through small settlements, prayer stones, and forest paths alongside the river. It’s an easy introduction to trekking and helps your body adjust naturally.

Phakding to Namche Bazaar(3440m)

Walk: 6–7 hours
Today the trail follows the river and crosses several long suspension bridges. As you move higher, the climb becomes more noticeable. The final section to Namche is steady and a bit demanding, but reaching this lively mountain town makes it worth the effort. If the weather is clear, you may catch your first glimpse of Everest on the way.

Rest and acclimatization at Namche Bazaar(3440m)

Walk: 2–3 hours 
Instead of staying completely idle, you take a short hike above Namche and return. This helps your body to adapt the  altitude quickly. The rest of the day can be spent exploring cafes, small shops, or simply enjoying the mountain views from town.

Namche Bazaar to Thame (3880m)

Walk: 4–5 hours
You leave the main Everest route and follow a quieter trail. The environment feels more peaceful with fewer trekkers around. The path is gentle, with open views and traditional houses along the way. Thame has a calm and authentic atmosphere.

Thame to Lungden (4380m)

Walk: 5–6 hours
The surroundings begin to feel more remote. Trees slowly disappear, and the landscape opens up into wide valleys. You may see yak caravans along the way. The walk is steady and prepares you for the first high pass.

Lungden to Gokyo (4790m) crossing Renjo La Pass (5360m)

Walk: 7–8 hours
This is the most memorable days. The climb to the pass is slow and steady, but once you reach the top, the entire mountain range opens up in front of you. After spending time enjoying the view, you descend towards the Gokyo lakes, which look stunning in clear weather.

Hike to Gokyo Ri (5357m) and trek to Thangnak (4750m)

Walk: 3–4 hours
An early start takes you up Gokyo Ri. The climb is short but steep. After enjoying the summit, descend to Gokyo and continue trekking along the glacier edge to reach the quiet village of Thangnak.

Thagnak (4750m) to Dzongla(4830m) crossing Cho La Pass (5420m)

Walk: 7–9 hours
Start early with a steady climb toward Cho La Pass, the most challenging section so far. The trail crosses rocky and icy terrain, offering dramatic views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. After reaching the pass, carefully descend to the remote village of Dzongla, where you rest and prepare for the next day.

Dzongla to Lobuche (4940)

Walk: 4–5 hours
The trail today is shorter and more relaxed compared to previous days. You join the main Everest route again, with wide mountain views along the way.

Lobuche – Everest Basecamp (5364m) – Gorakshep (5170m)

Walk: 7–8 hours
Today you trek from Lobuche to the famous Everest Base Camp, following rocky trails and glacial paths. After soaking in the views at Base Camp, you descend slightly to Gorak Shep, a small settlement where you will spend the night and rest for the next day’s hike to Kala Patthar.

Hike to Kalapathar (5545m) and trek to Labuche (5940m)

Walk: 7–8 hours
Start early with a climb to Kala Patthar for breathtaking views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and the surrounding peaks. After enjoying the summit, descend carefully to Lobuche, retracing part of the trail from earlier days. The evening is for rest and recovery.

Labuche to Dingboche (4410m) crossing Kongma-la Pass (5535m)

Walk: 7–8 hours
Today you tackle the Khongma La Pass, the last high pass of the trek. The trail is rugged and remote, offering stunning mountain and glacier views. After crossing the pass, you descend through rocky terrain to reach Dingboche, a serene village where you rest for the night.

Dingboche to Tengboche (3860m)

Walk: 5–6 hours
Today’s trek is a comfortable descent through forests, small villages, and flowing streams. Returning to Namche Bazaar, the familiar town feels welcoming after several high-altitude days, offering a chance to relax and enjoy the local atmosphere.

Tengboche to Namche Bazaar (3440m)

Walk: 5–6 hours

A comfortable descent through forests and villages. The familiar surroundings of Namche feel welcoming after the high-altitude section.

Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2840m)

Walk: 6–7 hours
The final trekking day follows the river back to Lukla. It’s a good time to enjoy the last moments in the mountains and celebrate the journey.

Flight: ~30-45 minutes
You return to Kathmandu by air. After arriving, you can relax at your hotel or explore the city again.
