The Makalu Base Camp Trek is one of Nepal’s most rewarding and least-crowded Himalayan adventures. This 21-day journey takes you deep into the pristine Makalu Barun National Park, home to rich biodiversity, remote mountain villages, and breathtaking alpine scenery. Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu. After checking in, you can relax and recover from your journey or explore the vibrant streets of Thamel if time permit

Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing & Trek Preparation

Today after breakfast we shall take the first half on sightseeing Kathmandu’s UNESCO heritage sites covering Swyambhu Stupa (Monkey Temple) and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Later back to the hotel for last-minute trek gear preparation. Evening a cultural welcome dinner followed by trek briefing.

Guide can test your ability as well as preparation while visiting Swyambhu Stupa, as on descend crossing long 380 stoned paved steps.

Fly to Tumlingtar (518 m) and Drive to Num (1,560 m)

Enjoy a scenic early-morning flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar. Upon arrival, enjoy a picturesque drive through rolling hills, riverside villages, and terraced farmland before reaching the mountain settlement of Num, the starting point of your trek.

Trek from Num to Seduwa (1,500 m)

Begin your trek by descending toward the Arun River before crossing a suspension bridge. Continue with a steady uphill walk through forests, cultivated fields, and traditional villages until reaching Seduwa, the gateway to Makalu Barun National Park.

Walk from Seduwa to the village of Tashigaon (2,100 m)

Follow a scenic trail through lush forests, terraced farms, and small mountain settlements. The gradual climb offers beautiful views of the surrounding hills before arriving at the peaceful Sherpa village of Tashigaon.

Tashigaon to Khongma Danda trek. (3,500 m)

Today’s route is a rewarding uphill climb through dense rhododendron and oak forests. As you gain elevation, enjoy panoramic views of snow-capped peaks before reaching the alpine ridge of Khongma Danda.

Acclimatization Day at Khongma Danda
